Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Articulate the risks and benefits associated with rock climbing
  2. Demonstrate competency in top-rope belay
  3. Identify and properly use basic climbing equipment such as a harness, locking carabineer, belay device, ground anchor, etc.
  4. Demonstrate proper climbing movement/technique
  5. Demonstrate climbing safety procedures including “buddy checks” and belay commands
  6. Define the additional risks and benefits of climbing outdoors
