Program Description

Fall 2022 is the last quarter applications will be accepted for this program. Academic advisors will work with applicants to ensure program completion.

The Office Assistant Certificate is a three-quarter program of study.  Students may participate in online or on-ground classes.  This certificate prepares students for entry-level positions in a business or office where utilizing many applications is required.  Students gain knowledge in preparation of typical business documents, bookkeeping procedures, file management, Internet usage, and electronic calendaring.  Students are prepared to perform general business and office duties including formatting correspondence, receiving telephone calls, composing effective written messages, and using positive customer service.
 

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Be proficient in the creation and preparation of commonly used business documents using Word.
  2. Have knowledge of office organizational tools, electronic calendaring, and electronic messaging.
  3. Have understanding of positive customer service skills and ability to implement positive customer service skills in a variety of situations.
  4. Understand basic business communication skills and have ability to implement in written correspondence.

Career Opportunities

Opportunities for employment in both large and small offices should be excellent for those completing this certificate program.
POTENTIAL POSITIONS INCLUDE: receptionist, general office clerk, records management clerk, data entry clerk, office assistant and customer service assistant.
