COURSE DESCRIPTION

SOC 221 — Race and Ethnic Relations  (5 cr)

We are a society unprecedented in its diversity of color, class, and cultural origin that reflects the fundamental ethnic and racial composition as well as stratification of the United States population. This class offers a comprehensive examination of race relations that commences with an appreciation of diversity in the United States and seeks to understand these relations through a historically grounded comparative analysis of several dominant/minority global patterns.
